Hello, my friend!
As I predicted in my last blog, my correspondence has certainly been on the decline due to, well, being due soon with baby #3…
I’m nearing the end of this pregnancy, so suffice it to say, I’m in full-on Nesting Mode, as well as Labor Prep Mode (hello, daily squats, lunges, wall sits, and Medjool dates, which are delicious, by the way, and great for preparing the cervix for labor, believe it or not). I’m also still very much in love with homeschooling and the surprising ways in which it’s educating me just as much as it’s educating my son.
Admittedly, I sort of thought I’d quickly grow bored with kindergarten curriculum, but thanks to Classical Conversations, it’s anything but boring and is in fact stretching my gray matter in extraordinary ways as I revisit topics like the Golden Age of Greece, the Roman Republic, parts of a cell, the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates, the geography of ancient regions and empires, and last but not least, Old Testament Bible stories that my family has personally decided to dust off and dive into first thing after breakfast.
There’s also math. And I have nothing good to say about math. #sorrynotsorry
Anywho, I’ve missed writing to you and sincerely pray you and your family are doing well and staying safe in this crazy and catastrophic month of October. I have been so heartbroken watching the news coverage of all the devastation happening in the southeast due to hurricanes Helene and Milton. I’m reminded of this sobering, albeit chilling, passage from Luke 21:
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” – Luke 2:25-26
I hope you will join me in praying not just for those affected by the storms, but for all humanity. If you believe the Bible as I do, then you know that the time period known colloquially as the End Times, in which we are inarguably living, is no walk in the park. Each of us is, and will continue to be, tested and tried in a plethora of ways that the Lord is more than willing, and of course able, to see us through. He allows hardships and tribulations into our lives in order that we might turn to Him and find His power, peace, and strength more than sufficient. He longs for us to look outside ourselves and this broken world for solutions, solace, and salvation. He longs for us to turn to Salvation Incarnate, Jesus Christ.
And so with that, I feel led to share a few key scriptures, as well as quotes from godly men and women, that I pray help fortify your spirit and soul as we tread deeper into days of increasing unrest and uncertainty. We must remember that even if things are quaking and collapsing around us, there can be stillness, even joy, in our spirits as we follow the Good Shepherd, and heed His matchless voice.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31
The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. – Exodus 15:2
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. – James 1:2-3
My grace is all you need, for my power is the greatest when you are weak. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. – Psalm 28:7
God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain. – C.S. Lewis
Waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one’s thoughts. – Elizabeth Elliot
Christians are like the several flowers in a garden that have each of them the dew of heaven, which, being shaken with the wind, they let fall at each other’s roots, whereby they are jointly nourished, and become nourishers of each other. – John Bunyan
Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. – Corrie ten Boom
Time for Round 3 of homeschool at the dinner table (phonics and math await!). Farewell for now!
Thank you as always for your support of my writing!
