Hello, my friend!
I hope you’re having a wonderful week. It’s been gorgeous down here in Texas. Even got my first sunburn of the season (not proud!) while outside for five hours yesterday!
This week, I’m once again (please forgive me…) sharing news on my latest novel, a powerful quote on going against the grain by rebelling against “normal,” a bodyweight-only leg workout, and a poem I penned over the weekend. Hope you enjoy!
Also, I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you who has participated in my The God Next Door giveaway be sending me photos of where you’ve been sharing the link! The giveaway runs through Friday; for details, please see the email I sent out Monday, or go to my Instagram page, @dianatylerauthor. I’ll randomly select the three winners on Saturday and send an Announcement email next week!
- NEW BOOK BABY HAS BEEN BORN
I am typing this as fast as possible because I always feel so uncomfortable and slightly cringey promoting my own product, but it’s part of marketing (ew, that word!), and it comes with the territory of being a creator/entrepreneur…I guess!
Despite my distaste for plugging my stuff, I am genuinely proud of and excited about my first-ever comedic fantasy, and hope you (or someone you know, if Greek mythology isn’t your cup of nectar) find it as enjoyable to read as I did to write!
Here’s the link to the book, available in both Kindle and paperback!
Here’s an Amazon review for it I read yesterday:
“Very beautifully written. This story had a great storyline, it kept me wanting to read more. The characters were explained so well, I feel like I actually know them. Highly recommend reading it.” – Amanda
- NIX NORMAL
I read this quote from Maya Angelou earlier this week and absolutely love it:
“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
- 30-MINUTE BODYWEIGHT-ONLY LEG WORKOUT
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a workout with y’all! Here’s a great one I did in my garage this morning before the kids woke up. It was a super-productive half hour, as I was also able to fold laundry during my 90-120-second rest periods!
Part I
Superset (meaning you perform the exercises back to back, with no rest in between them) x 3 sets:
- 10 air squats, lowering for 3 seconds, holding at the bottom for 3 seconds
- 5 each leg of Bulgarian single-leg stiff-legged deadlift straight into a Bulgarian split squat (you may need to YouTube this! If it’s too confusing, simply do a split squat with both feet planted on the floor instead of one elevated on a bench or box, or perform conventional single-leg stiff-legged deadlifts, or regular deadlifts with a pair of dumbbells or a barbell)
Part II
Superset x 3 sets:
- 8 lateral step-ups each leg (YouTube if necessary); make sure to go slowly!
- 8 curtsy lunges each leg
- “THE THIEF”
I wrote this poem over Easter weekend. I hope you enjoy it and pray it moves you to reflect upon the marvelous compassion and extravagant grace of Jesus Christ.
