Greetings from the Texan tundra!
We are under a freeze warning with temps in the upper twenties, so all us south Texans have been doing our annual stock-ups of toilet paper, bread and eggs, as well as winterizing our homes as best we know how (tips appreciated!). We’re also – if we’re smart – staying off the roads because every native Texan inexplicably forgets how to drive when even the slightest chance of ice or snow pops up in the forecast.
I hope you are safe and warm wherever you are. One of my husband’s best friends informed him this morning that it was 0 degrees where he is up in Lincoln, NE, so I truly cannot complain!
Jumping into this week’s Top 4, I’m excited to share my 2024 Vision Board, a powerful thought to help us rightly view the difference between worry and prayer, an effective daily habit from Dr. Andrew Huberman, and a poetic, soul-warming quote about love. I hope you enjoy!
WORRY VERSUS PRAYER
“Worry is a conversation you have with yourself about things you cannot change. Prayer is a conversation you have with God about things He can change.” – Anonymous
2024 HABIT TO CONSIDER
“Making this list each morning is effective and efficient because it simultaneously captures key elements from the science of goal-seeking, emotional health, and motivation. Takes about 3 to 5 minutes; 1-word entries are A-OK:
1) 5 Things You’re Thankful For
2) Plans for the Day
3) Any Fears or Resentments
4) Things to Watch Out For
5.) Things to Strive For”
– Dr. Andrew Huberman
VISION BOARD
I said this wouldn’t be pretty!
My vision board serves as a visual representation of where I’d like to keep my focus this year. It’s not a “goal board,” and as such doesn’t contain resolutions as much as it does values, themes, and regular rhythms I’m aiming to weave into my heart and home as much as possible.
THE LOVE/LIGHT CONNECTION
“The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love – whether we call it friendship or family or romance – is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light.” – James Baldwin
